Welcome and thank you so much for visiting my site! I would love to tell you a little about myself and my educational background.  I was always very active growing up, I played a variety of sports including track, cross country, soccer, and softball.  With activity, however, came lots of injuries.  I became interested in what an athletic trainer did to help heal those injuries.  Fast forward to 2003 and I was on my way to college and the first of my degrees.  I graduated in 2007 from Sacred Heart University with a Bachelor of Science degree in the College of Education and Health Professions.  In 2008 I passed my boards and became a BOC Certified Athletic Trainer and went on to graduate school at Ohio University.  A year later I graduated with my Master of Science in Athletic Training.  I am also a National Academy of Sports Medicine (NASM) Certified Personal Trainer.  In addition to my other certifications, I also hold a Level 1 Certification as a kettlebell instructor. 

 

A certified athletic trainer is able to perform emergency services, assess and treat orthopedic injuries, rehabilitate injuries, help to create and implement exercise routines as well as be aware of and help prevent situations in which athletes may be injured (And that’s just scratching the surface!).  Since I was an 18 year old student and just starting out in this profession I have worked in almost every setting available to athletic trainers. Everything from professional sports, middle and high school athletes, collegiate athletes, and with physical therapists.  One of my favorite things to do in my profession has been to work with enthusiastic athletes who really wanted to get more fit and improve upon their level of athletic ability.  I absolutely love administering the ‘post-test’.  This is such a wonderful tool to see how far you have come!  A list of basic exercises for you to perform the day before Day 1, you record how many you can do.  By Day 31, do the same ones again and see the real difference!  It never gets old seeing the people you work with be amazed at how much they have improved in as little as four weeks.

 

A certified personal trainer is an individual who specializes in creating fitness programs and guides clients to reach their ultimate fitness and wellness goals. By utilizing the Optimum Performance Training (OPT) model set forth by NASM, I work with individuals who are motivated to make lifestyle changes. People who want to make that permanent, lifelong change for the better in their lives. I also offer fitness coaching, which allows me to connect with people all over the country via live stream meetings. Having someone to hold you accountable and keep you motivated can make all the difference in the world.

 

If you are on this website, I am going to venture a guess as to why.  You are looking for an answer to how you can better yourself, both physically and mentally.  Over the past few years I have gained so much more insight and knowledge from doing research for both myself and my athletes.  This includes everything from exercises and fitness, to nutrition, psychology, and beyond.  I realized all this information could be valuable not only to my athletes, but to the general population.  There really is so much information out there! How are you to know what is real and what is just bogus?

 

The answer is to get your information from professionals.  We have put in the time, blood, sweat, and tears to get to where we are today.  It is my goal to compile a myriad of information here for you, in this one place from trusted individuals. Get your fitness tips and other advice from someone who has studied the human body, has a comprehensive knowledge of human anatomy and physiology and how it works, not from the fitness fanatics or fitness models who try to sell on looks alone.  

 

Rehabilitation from injuries has excellent parallels to general fitness; there should always be the proper progression and acceleration of the program in order to obtain results. It is very easy to plateau by doing the same routine over and over again, or even a mish-mosh of random exercises which I have seen being sold out there. It will give you results at first, but eventually you will hit a point, and very quickly, where progress will be minimal…unless you have the right kind of fitness and health regimens.  I have geared these fitness programs for everyone from stay at home moms to athlete’s looking for that extra edge in their performance.
